Bentz has been selected as the supplier of a new special crew cab for Pierce Manufacturing.  Pierce Manufacturing, headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin with a second manufacturing facility in Bradenton, Florida, is the market leader in fire trucks (www.piercemfg.com).

Bentz executed the design of Pierce Manufacturing’s concept in a cooperative design effort of a special raised-roof crew cab.  Based on the Kenworth T300 medium duty truck, the new crew cab is central to Pierce’s new Multi-Cab program.

The special crew cab, proprietary to Pierce Manufacturing for fire apparatus applications, allows the pump operator to operate the pump from inside the cab while standing up inside the cab.  The special crew cab features virtual 360-degree visibility with windows on all four sides.  The commercial truck-based crew cab also holds six persons, a significant advantage over the industry-standard five person commercial crew cab.  Two, large, low-side-entry doors provide easy ingress/egress.

As part of Pierce’s Multi-Cab program, the crew cab will be offered with three back wall configurations—an upper cab opening for enclosed top mount pumpers, a full-length walk-thru opening for rescue vehicles and a solid back wall for command vehicles.

Bentz assembles the crew cab modification with complete interior trim at our facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Units are then transported to Pierce Manufacturing’s facilities in Bradenton, Florida and Appleton, Wisconsin for upfit and completion.
